Our Story

Haynes Farm vineyard is a small vineyard, developed and run by the Williams family, based in Tenterden, Kent. We specialise in white wine made from top-quality, hand-tended grapes. The vineyard was planted in 2022, and was carefully curated to nurture robust vines and produce a first harvest in 2023. We began producing a distinctive quality Bacchus wine, Haynes, in 2024 with the help of friends and family.

Meet the Grower

The Haynes Vineyard was established in 2022 by Guy Williams in partnership with his wife, Clare and father David Williams. The partnership, JM Wines, is named after Guy's late mother, Judith Mary Williams.
Guy has quickly learned the craft of nurturing the vines and the careful year-round pruning and tending that is needed to ensure the highest quality grapes, under the guidance of widely respected consultant, Luke Wolfe.
In the early years of establishing the vineyard Guy was always accompanied by his loyal and much-loved dog Kate. If you look carefully, you will see her featured on the label.

Bacchus Wine Variety
Bacchus, named after the Roman god of wine and wine-making, is a highly popular English Wine variety as it is a robust vine producing consistent quality of grapes, suitable for the English climate. It now accounts for about 8% of English vines and is usually used to make still white wines.

Many people remark on its similarity to Sauvignon Blanc because of its aromatic bouquet. Bacchus can offer a complex variety of notes including citrus fruits, floral, apple and even spice.

The grape was first developed at the Geilweilerhof Institute for Vine Breeding in Siebeldingen, a town in western Germany in 1933.
